Battle of Mühlberg on April 24, 1547 (1547)

At the Battle of Mühlberg on the Elbe River, the combined forces of Emperor Charles V and Duke Moritz of Saxony defeated the Schmalkaldic League. The victory ended the Protestant resistance. Woodcut by Virgil Solis the Elder (1514-62), 1547.
