Martin Luther as Holy Man (after 1519)

This woodcut is a good example of the Luther imagery that circulated before and after the Diet of Worms in 1521. It shows him as a divinely inspired holy man. Woodcut by Hieronymus Hopfer (c. 1500-63), after 1519.
