This image of a dark dyer was taken from a 1568 publication entitled Eygentliche Beschreibung Aller Stäande auf Erden [Actual Description of all Professions on Earth], with verses by Hans Sachs and illustrations by Jost Amman. The caption explains that the dark dyes offered are green, gray, black, and blue. Woodcut by Jost Amman (1539-91), 1568.
