The German Historical Institute
The German Historical Institute (GHI) is an independent research institute dedicated to the promotion of historical research in the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany. Its primary mission is to encourage the study of German and American history. The Institute is particularly committed to training young historians, facilitating international scholarly cooperation, and supporting research projects that utilize primary source materials. German History in Documents and Images (GHDI) is one of many programs and initiatives organized by the Institute in support of these objectives.
