Demonstration by the Confederation of German Trade Unions (April 1, 1975)
In response to growing unemployment among young people, the Confederation of German Trade Unions (DGB) organized a demonstration on April 1, 1975, in support of the vocational training law proposed by the social-liberal coalition. Here, a participant in the Frankfurt demonstration holds a sign whose message is directed against the tough stance assumed by Hanns-Martin Schleyer in collective wage-bargaining disputes. The statement, which rhymes in the original German, can be translated as: "He's called Schleyer, and he swindles (job) trainees." Photo by Abisag Tüllmann.
