Homage to Bismarck (August 10, 1891)
Bismarck was celebrated by nationalists for his role in unifying Germany. The photograph below was taken in 1891, after he had resigned as chancellor. A students’ association pays homage to him in a scene that reflects the high esteem in which he was held. Bismarck remained a leading symbol of German nationalism in the Wilhelmine era.
