Mosse Residence Schenkendorf (n.d.)
Berlin publishing magnate Rudolf Mosse (1843-1920) bought the rural estate [Rittergut] of Schenkendorf and its manor house in 1896. Recalling his idyllic childhood years there, grandson George L. Mosse wrote: “No sense of impending doom marred my childhood…during the last years of the Weimar Republic. I witnessed those years as a spectator cushioned from the real world through an opulent lifestyle which served to block out the realities of life.”
