After the decision was announced, the Bild-Zeitung, a wide-circulation tabloid, ecstatically exclaimed in its headline “We are Pope.” The header announced: "Our Joseph Ratzinger is Benedict XVI," and a front-page article called Ratzinger's election a "millennial sensation."
