Leaders of the Republican Revolt in Baden (1848)
"Only harmony will lead us to the goal toward which we are striving." This 1848 lithograph features two leaders of the protest movement in Baden: Friedrich Hecker (1811-1881), shown in the center left, and Gustav Struve (1805-1870), next to him on the right. Hecker is dressed in "revolutionary" costume and holds the republican flag; Struve is also portrayed in anti-bourgeois clothing.
