Blockade of the Springer Publishing House in Hamburg (1968)
Many observers blamed the Springer Publishing House for the assassination attempt on student leader Rudi Dutschke, since its publications had stoked a blaze of hatred against the student revolt and its leaders. To decry the domination of the media by conservative forces, demonstrators tried to prevent the delivery of Springer newspapers, including the popular tabloid Bild Zeitung. Here, police protect the Springer Publishing House in Hamburg during the so-called Springer Blockade. Photo by Günter Zint.
