Edgar J. Jung (n.d.)

Lawyer and author Edgar Julius Jung (1894-1934) was one of the intellectual leaders of the "Conservative Revolution" [Konservative Revolution]. He authored the famous speech that Franz von Papen delivered at the University of Marburg on June 17, 1934. In it, Papen spoke out critically against Nazi excesses. Jung was murdered shortly thereafter. He was one of many killed by the SS during the Röhm Putsch, or the Night of the Long Knives, on July 1, 1934.This photograph was taken from his gun license, now in the collection of the German Resistance Memorial, Berlin.
