Demonstration for Equal Pay (March 8, 2007)
On March 7, 2007, Hep Monatzeder (left), deputy mayor of the Bavarian capital of Munich, Theresa Schopper (center), chair of the Bavarian Greens, and Claudia Roth (right), federal chair of the Greens, presented two shopping baskets in Munich, one marked with the male symbol (left), the other with the female symbol (right). They did so to illustrate the effect wage differences on the purchasing power of men and women. The poster in the background calls for either full wage equality for men and women or a 26 percent discount on all products purchased by women. Their small demonstration took place a day before International Woman's Day, which is celebrated on March 8 every year. Photo: Lukas Barth.
