First German Retirement Home in Mallorca (October 31, 1995)

The Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca has long ranked among the most popular German vacation destinations, and many retired Germans spend the winter in its mild climate or live there all year round. Tour operators offer senior citizens special long-term vacations, whose price includes a daily visit by a trained nurse. Since 1995, affluent German retirees have been able to spend their golden years in the first German retirement home outside Germany; it is located in a former manor house in Santa Ponça.
