Caricature: Helmut Kohl's Ten-Point Plan, Die Presse (December 21, 1989)

Published in December 1989 in the Austrian newspaper Die Presse, this caricature refers to Helmut Kohl's Ten-Point Plan, which he laid out in his Bundestag speech of November 28, 1989. Depicted as a juggler, Kohl performs a stunt in front of an amazed – and skeptical – East German crowd. This maneuver was supposed to result in unification, which is symbolized by the open Brandenburg Gate.
