Peter Behrens, AEG Clock (1908) Peter Behrens (1868-1940) was an influential architect and designer who combined art, industry, and technology to create objects for everyday use. From 1907 to 1914, he worked as an artistic advisor to AEG [or the General Electric Company]. There, he was responsible for factory layouts and the design of furniture and other objects (e.g., light fixtures, fans, and signs) produced at the company’s Berlin factories. The wall clock shown here (1908) attests to the simplicity and functionality of Behrens’ designs.
