Men at the Employment Office (1913)
Here, we see the waiting room for unskilled male workers at Berlin’s central employment office, which was located on Gormannstraße. Among workers, unskilled wage-laborers were the most vulnerable to unemployment. By providing social services, the state sought to address the problems resulting from joblessness. The employment office shown below was part of that effort. There, job seekers could learn about work opportunities.
