Austrian and Saxon Artillery on the Problus Heights at the Battle of Königgrätz (July 3, 1866)
Saxon and Austrian batteries wage a vain battle against the Prussians to hold the high ground at Problus during the Battle of Königgrätz. The Austrians suffered from poor leadership, supply and transportation problems, and strategic errors, while the Saxon forces under Crown Prince Albert (1828-1902) were praised, even by the Prussians, for the valiant efforts they made to compensate for the shortcomings of their great-power ally Austria.
