Karl Friedrich Schinkel Memorial (1946)
Here lies Christian Daniel Rauch’s (1777-1857) toppled memorial to architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841), after whose plans the Berlin Academy of Architecture was built. To the right, another statute by Rauch stands intact before the ruined Academy.
Berlin, 1946. Print from original negative.
